NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

·       Possess industry-recognized certifications like CCNA from vendors such as CISCO, Palo Alto, etc. or a relevant university degree

·       Skilled in cabling, racking, labelling, upgrading, and maintaining physical and virtualized network devices

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture principles

·       Knowledgeable in local area and wide area network protocols and equipment

·       Experienced in implementing and operating VPNs

·       Proficient in configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Layer-2 and Layer-3 network environments

·       Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting firewall rules

·       Ability in documenting solutions and maintaining guides and procedures

·       Conversant in the Windows and Linux network stack

·       Knowledgeable of network security topologies, protocols, components, and principles

·       Experienced in network management using SNMP

·       Experience with operating a Virtual Network Environment

·       Experienced in designing and configuring alerts

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

·       Experience with automation tools for configuration management

·       Experienced in Next Generation firewalls

·       Possess security certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Sec+, CISSP or equivalent

·       Skilled in configuring and using network intrusion systems

·       Experienced in working with network devices such as data diodes, and technologies such as SATCOM

·       Skilled in traffic shaping and configuring network access controls

·       Knowledgeable in the principles of command and control (C2) systems

·       Experienced in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements

·       Skilled in using network management and monitoring tools such as Nagios XI, SolarWinds, Whatsup Gold, HP BTO, etc

·       Knowledgeable of the NATO organization, and their standards and policies

DUTIES/ROLE:

·       Maintaining and administering network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and other related devices

·       Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software and other network problems

·       Replacing faulty network components when required

·       Monitoring measures of network availability and performance

·       Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems

·       Coordinating and configuring computer network access and use

·       Configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software
