EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

·         In addition to at least 5 years recent post-related experience, the incumbent will possess:

·         3+ years of detailed experience in System Administration of MS Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP

·         In-depth experience with WSUS and SCCM

·         Detailed experience with CA and NPS

·         In-depth experience on IT systems virtualization and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure

·         Working knowledge of MS Office suite, email Clients / Web Browsers and Web Content Management

·         Demonstrated ability to be timely and agile in a dynamic environment

·         Service-minded attitude with a strong interest in working directly with users

·         Skilled in developing scripts to automate system administration processes

·         Ability to ensure physical and electronic security of systems

·         Demonstrated proficiency in English as defined in STANAG 6001 (Standardized Linguistic Profile (SLP) (Written and Oral). NATO: 3333

 

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

·         Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration

·         VMware certifications or Microsoft Windows Server certifications (MCSA)

·         Experience with hybrid Linux/Active Directory environments

·         Broad and in-depth experience of the ITIL Service Management framework

·         Project management experience

·         Specific experience with Configuration Control, IT Collaboration tools

·         Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements

·         Scripting and automation using PowerShell

·         Current certification such as Security+, Network+, or another vendor neutral certification

 

DUTIES/ROLE: 

·         Executes standard operational procedures, including infrastructure configuration, installation, and maintenance. Uses infrastructure management tools to collect and report on load and performance statistics and to automate the provisioning, testing, and deployment of new and changed infrastructure. Contributes to the implementation of maintenance and installation work. Uses standard procedures and tools to perform system & data backups and restorations. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution

·         Reviews system software updates and identifies those that merit action. Tailors system software (i.e. operating systems, data management products, office automation products, and other utility software) to maximise hardware functionality. Installs and tests new versions of system software. Investigates and coordinates the resolution of potential and actual service problems. Prepares and maintains operational documentation for system software. Advises on the correct and effective use of system software

·         Executes the day-to-day System Administration (SA) of the Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) of the currently fielded versions of MS Windows Server, including managing Active Directory Services (Domain Controller, Group and Security Policies, DNS, Trust Relationships and the like), as well as the DNS and DHCP servers

·         Develops scripts to automate system administration processes

·         Assists in the execution of release management plans that include rollout and rollback procedures. Execute proper preventive maintenance plans

·         Assists in the preparation of all technical and service oriented documentation pertaining to assigned systems, interconnections, supporting cable plant etc.

·         Coordinate closely with the Service Desk to maximize the efficiency between 1st and 2nd line support including on-the-job training of 1st line support personnel

·         Proactively monitor the assigned systems and alert in case of performance degradation or downtime. Generate availability reports and statistics to ensure full service provisioning visibility. Advice management on corrective action or procurement action required to correct detected weaknesses in system performance

·         Remain up-to-date in IT technology and trends from an end-user perspective enabling state-of-the-art support to a scientific workforce

·         This position might require to carry out day-to-day activities at the Centre as well as on the deployed platforms (e.g. Centre Research Vessels) – normally deployment should not be longer than a month

·         May be required to perform other related duties
